Bawal Book Club Live Welcomes Josefina Creators Russel Molina and Ace Enriquez

Our next Bawal Book Club Live is a big one for horror fans, komiks readers, and anyone who loves Filipino storytelling.
We’re sitting down with Josefina creators and for a live conversation about Filipino komiks, horror, mythology, storytelling, creative inspirations, and a little kulitan along the way.
Set during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines, Josefina follows a manananggal caught in a world where the real monsters might actually be human. The graphic novel has become one of the standout modern Filipino horror komiks for its mix of folklore, history, emotion, and striking visual storytelling.
Russel Molina is widely respected in the Filipino komiks and children’s literature scene, known for works like Josefina, Lunatics, and decades of storytelling across comics and publishing. Ace Enriquez brings Josefina to life through expressive black-and-white artwork that gives the story its haunting atmosphere and emotional weight.
This livestream is a chance to hear directly from the creators about their process, inspirations, collaboration, and the state of Filipino komiks today.
