Pasadena Comic Con Returns January 25, 2026. Catch Nathan Cayanan Signing Suspicious Activity.

Pasadena Comic Con returns on Sunday, January 25, 2026, bringing together comics, creators, cosplay, toys, and pop culture fans for a full day of discovery at the Pasadena Convention Center. Known for its creator-friendly atmosphere and strong Artist Alley, the convention has built a reputation as one of Southern California’s most fan-focused events.

What sets Pasadena Comic Con apart is its emphasis on access and connection. It’s the kind of show where readers can meet creators directly, discover new work, and spend time talking with the people behind the stories they love. With an expanded Artist Alley, a large vendor floor, and a wide range of panels and signings, the event continues to be a hub for independent and emerging voices.

One of the creators appearing this year is Filipino American writer and illustrator Nathan Cayanan. Nathan will be tabling throughout the day and signing copies of his debut crime novel, Suspicious Activity, published by Hot Tropiks.

Recently nominated for the Eric Hoffer Book Award, Suspicious Activity has been steadily finding its audience through independent readers, book clubs, and word of mouth. The nomination is something we’re genuinely excited about, and we’re proud of Nathan and the work he’s put into this book.

If you’ve been following our Bawal Book Club, you’ll recognize Suspicious Activity as our current pick. Bawal Book Club is our monthly reading community for fans of Filipino and Southeast Asian storytelling. There’s no subscription, no pressure, and no required pace. It’s about reading together, talking about stories, and building community around books that deserve more attention. Pasadena Comic Con is a rare chance to take that online conversation offline and meet the creator in person.

Blending prose with sequential art, Suspicious Activity is a hybrid crime novel set in Southern California’s San Gabriel Valley. The story follows Bingo, an accountant for an Asian American criminal organization led by Filipino American crime boss Marvin Andrada. Haunted by paranoia, ambition, and the consequences of his own choices, Bingo becomes the lens through which the book explores identity, survival, and moral compromise.

Nathan Cayanan is a Filipino American writer, educator, and creative entrepreneur based in California. A graduate of USC’s Master of Professional Writing program and an alum of the DC Comics Milestone Initiative, he has taught at USC, UC Irvine, and Cal State Fullerton. His previous work includes the sci-fi graphic novel Stellar Remnant and projects with DC Comics. Suspicious Activity is his first full-length crime novel.

Conventions like Pasadena Comic Con play an important role in connecting stories like this with readers. They create space for discovery, conversation, and community. Whether you’re there for cosplay, collectibles, or comics, the show is built around the idea that pop culture is best experienced face to face.

If you’re attending Pasadena Comic Con this year, stop by Nathan’s table, meet the author, and get your copy of Suspicious Activity signed.
