Naermyth by Karen Francisco is a gripping post-apocalyptic novel set in a dystopian Philippines where creatures from ancient Filipino myths and legends come to life. These terrifying beings, known as the Naermyth (a play on "never myth"), have taken over the world, pushing humanity to the brink of extinction.

At the center of the story is Aegis, a battle-hardened soldier. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she saves a mysterious stranger with extraordinary powers. As she uncovers the truth behind his identity, Aegis must confront deeper questions about the nature of monsters, heroes, and what it means to be part of a family.

Key Features:

  • A unique blend of Filipino folklore and dystopian fiction.
  • Complex characters and thrilling plot twists.
  • Perfect for fans of fantasy, science fiction, and post-apocalyptic worlds.

Reading it as an adult versus when I was in high school

Reading it as an adult versus when I was in high school, resonates so much more. It still pertains to what’s is going on today. The toxicity started by Spain and it’s friars still permeates.
